Kazakhstan's Burabai is the most popular resort in CIS

Burabai, also called Borovoe, ranks the first among the CIS resorts and is the most popular place among Russia’s tourists, according to TurStat analytical agency.

The agency presented its ranking of CIS resorts popular among Russian travelers this summer. Kazakhstan’s Burabai, Issyk-Kul of Kyrgyzstan, Lake Naroch in Belarus, Bilgah Beach of Azerbaijan and Lake Sevan of Armenia rank top five of popular travel destinations.

Burabai is often referred to as the pearl of Kazakhstan to due to its amazing pristine nature and beautiful landscape. It is a perfect place to recharge with spiritual energy and recenter.

In one of our previous posts, we mentioned that Burabai is often compared with Switzerland for its breathtaking views, pine forest and beautiful lake.

Borovoe Lake is located between Astana and Kokshetay. If you travel from Astana, you can take a bus. During your three-hour ride, you will pass through rural Kazakh and ethnic-Ukrainian villages. The Borovoe area has huge rocks that are great for climbers, trails for hikers and areas for picnics and lodges to stay overnight. One of the main sights of the Borovoe Lake is the Zhumbaktas rock. Most people that come here try to sail to the rock on a boat and climb to the summit of Zhumbaktas, where you can take wonderful pictures. You can rent a boat at the station; it will cost you around $8 for 30 mins. You can also use a boatmen service.
