On July 21-23rd, 2013, the sixth season of Scoop Fashion Show took place in London. Kazakhstan’s premium fashion brand Aika Alemi participated in it for the first time.
Launched in February 2011, Scoop is a boutique womenswear trade show showcasing emerging and established directional fashion designers from around the world. Traditionally, Scoop exhibitions are hosted in iconic locations in London. Accordingly, the sixth show of Scoop Fashion Show were hosted at London’s Saatchi Gallery of Modern Art and Phillips Contemporary Photography.
At the sixth show of Scoop, more than 400 designers presented the best in contemporary and premium womenswear, accessories, footwear, and lifestyle products. Among them was Aika Alemi.
For the fashion-loving customers and picky fashion experts from the UK and abroad, Aika Alemi presented their Spring-Summer 2014 collection, titled White Plenty. White Plenty is a direct translation from Kazakh “Ak Mol,”
The basis of the collection consists of a snow-white brand patchwork unlined and lined with natural muslin, cotton, staple, delicate lace, lace and author tricotine felted patterns on natural chiffon and georgette. In the collection there are day and evening dresses, soft coat – transformers, bilateral sweaters, long skirts, pants, skirts and sleeves ornate ruffles and raw seams.
Aika Alemi was cofounded and directed by Kazakhstan national Ayazhan Zhaksibay, also known as Aika. A Duke University graduate, Aika has come a long way before starting her fashion line Aika Alemi. A hobby turned business, her resume includes various positions in auditing firms, chemical companies, and transnational corporations. At the age of 24, she served as a financial director of a large telecommunication company.
In an interview with Forbes.kz, Aika said that apart from a number of Kazakhstan’s celebrities, she designs clothes for wives, daughters and sisters of politicians.
